I smoked a pack a day for over 14 years. 2 years ago today, I quit. Even though I subsequently gained almost 50 pounds, it was the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Congrats, Jon!! Nonsmokers rule! And if you gained 50 pounds, you must have been a scrawny rail when you were smoking.

Congrats to you. I was never a hooked smoker, but saw so many in my family struggle with quitting. A big hurrah for you! You should do something to celebrate.

Jon, I don't think I would recognize you. Met back in late January 2008 at WOC. Show us a photo.

Congrats Jon...I too am a quitter :D I smoked 2+ packs a day for 18+ years and I quit cold turkey 2 1/2 years ago. I also gained a lot of weight, about 60 pounds to be exact, but since have lost that now as well :)

My two year quit anniversary is in a couple of weeks. I agree that it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I gained about 25 pounds.
I've saved well over $4000. I had smoked close to two packs a day for over 30 years. God! I can't believe how stupid that sounds now...

I admire everyone who has quit and stayed quit. It's a toughy drug, that nicotine.
    Kudos to you all.

Thanks everyone. I don't get sick as often, I don't get as sick when I do come down with something, I can smell things that I haven't smelled in 15 years, food has more taste, and I don't get fidgety as easily.

I used to weigh in at a burly 180. I went up to 230, but I'm around 220 now.

    $4/pack, 365 days/year, 2 years, plus 10% because I smoked more sometimes, = ~$3200.

I think I'm going to hit a strip club.

I look about the same as I did last year, Clark. I had already packed on the 50 lbs.

    Seriously, huh?

No. It isn't. Especially when I have a few beers, and I've been known to have quite a few...
