I want Angs.
And this is news?
What's an ang? Sounds like something you'd see your doctor about.
People in hell want ice water, too.
I want to win the lottery. I want Spring to last 10 months. I want mad growing skilz.
You missed some nice ones at the POE.
Aerangis citrata and 2 forms of Angraecum germinyanum followed me home...
"What's an ang? Sounds like something you'd see your doctor about. "
I would venture to say that a Bulbo sounds a LOT worse, medically. oke:
Pook said there wasn't much at the POE. I was momentarily less pissed off that I had to miss it to meet with government types in Texsux. But now you tell me there were germinyanum varieties!!??? Who was selling those? Did you see or touch any other Angs there? I believe Pook said all she saw was leonis and...something else common. Although on her list was Ang. sedifolium, I believe, which is certainly NOT common.
Anyway, isn't this the part of the forum where one posts the orchids that one wants? That was my understanding.
thank you very little
Nappa Valley Orchids had the A. germinyanums, ooh, and a HUGE A. diederi that is 4 inches tall and has 3 inch leaves. I bought them all, so Pook might not have seen them!
Cal Orchids had some A. magdalena, and a couple of vendors had Jumellea comorensis & J. confusa. Ooh, and you missed a 20 plus growth of A. sesquipedale?, I think it was....
In other news, the sun rose today.
and the Pope is Catholic
I didn't even work at shopping and found lots of stuff I couldn't live without. That A didieri that Karen got looked like it was on steroids. I could have spent a lot more, but I'm short of room and short of money.
One couldn't be sure if you were looking for angraecoids or angraecums. Usually, people are a little more specific.
what would you give me for psuedofilicornu?
Try ebay. Just bought Ang Scottianum and Eichlerlianum. Should I plant the Scottianum on cork board?
I grow my scottianum mounted on a stick. It seems to like that.
I grew mine in LECA in a s/h pot for a couple years but it now grows in black lava in a clay pot. Mounted should also work.
For pseudofilicornu, I would give any one of a few multi growth bulbos, a Psychopsis, slipperz, NOID Phals , hateful intergeneric Onc, I'd hack off a hunk of Encyl radiata, Epi nocturnum, a big piece of Catt. intermedia, uhhh.... a tray of Pings, a Nepenthes, Platystele misera, a Dend kingianum hybrid, or ummm....how bout a pot of Pothos ivy?
I'd trade any one of those without even seeing or knowing anything about your plant, just cuz i don't have it. I never got one since they look so much like scottianum.
If yours is especially nice, i'd unload a Lycaste, a hunk or whole of Coelogyne viscosa, perhaps even an Ang! How bout some baobab seeds? Cash? I'll give you forty bucks sight unseen.
I've got 32 of them, MrB. At $40 each, that's $1,280. I take cash only. I'll pay for shipping.
I grow A scottianum best mounted. I also have it in a small net pot with large bark that hangs with the mounted plants and does OK, but looks pretty tacky.
One ebay vendor has some very nice angraecoids.
this one is WAY better than scottianum. If you were thinking it was an either or scenario you chose the wrong species.
I missed the sedifolium - musta been nursing my wine glass or shoveling pate ... but I got the germinyanum - incredible plant. The J. confusa was nice and the A. didieri was amazing. Cal orchids had Microcoelia stolzii, which was pricey but a must-have for us leafless folks. Here's what I brought home (aside from a slight hangover):
Angreacum germinianum (in spike)
Angreacum scottianum (in spike)
Angreacum calceolus (in spike)
Jumellea arachnantha (huge plant)
Microcoelia stolzii (been looking for this forever ...)
Encyclia peraltensis (in spike)
Phal wilsonii (in spike)
Brassavola acaulis x cucculata
Nice show. Always. And San Francisco is gorgeous in early March. Ya gotta make it next year.
