I got this plant as a seedling in 2002 from Carter and Homes. One of the first species orchids I tried. It grew inside under lights originally. Two years ago it started to bud and blasted after about a month.
Back in early November I noticed something coming out between the leaves. It got bigger and bigger. It opened on Christmas Eve or the day before. The tag says 'December type.'

Here's a side view in case your wondering where the missing parts are.

I was so totally thrilled when I came home briefly on Christmas morning and found it open in my greenhouse. This is quite possibly the high point of my growing career.

It is certainly the high point of my orchid viewing today! Congrats, well done.

Mine, like yours, made a bud for the first time this past Fall. Like yours, mine blasted. Maybe next year I'll get luckier.
