An old, classic anceps, Laelia anceps 'Irwin's', isn't nearly as full as many of the newer varieties. However, it's one of my favorites and blooms like clockwork for Christmas. It's giving me a couple spikes this year, and it has grown substantially from the small division that I purchased at my OS meeting a couple years back. L. anceps is a tough species native to Mexico and Guatemala, and can withstand quite cold (and hot!) temperatures.
