An Experiment in Black and White

    This image actually came about when I was selecting a color range in this image:

    for processing in photoshop. When I switched to quick mask mode to check on the mask, I thought it looked interesting...kinda contrasty like an old daguerotype. So, I copy & pasted and turned the mask into a new image.

    This is a newly described species of orchid, endemic to one small area in Florida. Pteroglossaspis pottsii was first described just two years ago, having been determined to be a different plant than the related Pteroglossaspis ecristata.
