Seriously -- this little slimey monster is going to get some serious slug-o-cide today. It has been a busy week - not to mention cold and rainy, so I haven't been out much in the greenhouse. This morning, I find that the slug has completely destroyed two flower buds on a Plect. caudatus. So irritated!

To make matters worse, I was hoping to use this plant in an Ang. Alliance exhibit at MAOC in Kansas City next week. So frustrating! Bring out the pesticides, cause a slug is going to die today.

We haven't had any rain yet, but I did just see one slug on the wall this morning, so I know they are on the move. Good luck and happy hunting.

Evil slugs! I have had some slug damage too. What did you use to zap them?

Slug bait is useful but lacks the visual appeal of finding the corpses of slugs downed in beer.

I killed my slug(s) with bait, but I've always been curious about the beer. How do you do it? Is it just the beer and they are attracted to the smell? I'm not a drinker--any particular brew the slugs can't get enough of?

Ylou put a cup with beer in a place within easy access of suspected slug hideways. The slugs will be attracted to the beer and imbibe themselves into blissful oblivion.

Bait does not work in my humid growing spaces :( It just decomposes and gives off a stench worse than Masdevallia cæsia

Well there you go -- simple enough. I'll have to try that sometime--preferably before the little boogers eat one of my plants.
