A friend just told me about this and I gave it a try. It doesn't kill them, but at least it makes them let go of the plant. Submerge an infested plant in a bucket of water, (I was told a minute or two, but it took a little longer for me) and you will find the little critters floating and/or sinking, but no longer on the plant. I used a strainer to scoop them out of the bucket. ¡Adios mis amigos!

I was so pleased I had to go out and buy a bottle of wine to celebrate.

I can think of no better reason to go get a bottle of wine.

    Devils advocate ...

What about the little buggars that are in a tangled mass of roots so that they neither float nor sink since they are trapped in the mass. You think you have eliminated them, but once the plant is un-drenched they resume happily munching away...

No, just to drink. I don't have a recipe for escargot in a microwave and if I can't cook it in the microwave, it doesn't happen (I do make exceptions for cookies) .;)

I've heard good things about caffine being deadly to snails. Perhaps a few No-Doze in the water would help do the trick?

Wine cuz you've killed a snail or two? I LIKE that! I had a problem with roaches once and dunking the plants made them surface. I'd flick them off the water and the lizards would run around happily snatching them up. It was a fun time. I should have done it with a glass of wine. Hey, I probably did.

Personally, I don't need a reason to buy a bottle of wine. Glad you got rid of some of your bush snails, though. I hate those little turds.

Snail murderers. All of you. I trap the little guys and turn them loose in the city park. They're God's creatures, too.

Liar. I know what you do with bush snails. And it has nothing to do with God.

I wish I could find a good source for Measurol or Metaldehyde (non grain bait types). It seems like everyone remains "sold-out" or they won't admit, on-line, that they sell it. If someone here can provide links to a web source, I'd be deeply grateful.
